The club was formed in 1918 as Bridlington Central Unit, and played in the Driffield and District minor league. After several seasons the club were promoted to the East Riding of Yorkshire Amateur League, whereby they won the championship on five consecutive occasions during the 1950's. The club changed their name to Bridlington Town FC in 1959, and moved into Division Two of the Yorkshire league. In season 1960-1 they reached the first round "proper" of the FA Cup, unfortunately they were defeated by Bishop Auckland who were a strong side during that era. In 1982 they joined the Northern Counties East league as a founder member. Following a deal to obtain the lease to their current venue - the name was changed to Bridlington Town AFC. This also meant a new crest and motto for the club -"Pergere et Eniti" - onwards and upwards!
That's the beauty of a ground share - when both teams are playing against each other, they can welcome each other simultaneously - without incurring any extra signage costs.

This stand reminds me of a bus shelter.
Hey, that's funny - it is actually called the bus shelter stand - that's fantastic - recognition of the humble bus shelter after all these years. Long may the bus shelter continue!
As you can see a real bumper crowd for this clash of local rivals. Both teams are striving for a place in the Northern League this season.
Some fans like to wear club badges on their hats, whilst others like to wear club patches on their jackets - whatever - some fans post blogs apparently - do they really? haw haw.

Bridlington's ground provides football fans with a wide variety of views - on one side you have the local parish church which is on the site of the Augustininian Priory founded in 1113 However, the priory was dissolved in 1538 by Henry VIII during his dissolution of the monasteries. In 1951, the church was granted Grade I Listed Building status. Unlike poor old Atherton's Church which is only Grade II. Whilst on the other side of the ground you have..........
The local oil refinery depot - a nice contrast don't you think readers? Reminds me of Canvey Island, the home of Dr Feelgood - "milk and alcohol".
